Dr Anwara Ali, MBE
Dr Anwara Ali is a successful GP, businesswoman and former Tower Hamlets Councillor (Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing) and Primary Care Trust Board member with a proven track record in achieving the highest standards.
As a GP, Dr Ali has built up one of the biggest GP practices in East London turning it around from a failing service. She joined The Spitalfields Practice when it was recognized as one of the poorest performing practices in Tower Hamlets. Under her leadership, the Practice has immeasurably improved the quality of care it provides and the way in which it delivers its services. The Spitalfields Practice is now an award winning, high performing practice.
Similarly, under her Chairmanship East End Health Network has become an outstanding provider of primary care services achieving excellent health outcomes for the 45,000 patients that live within the Network’s catchment area.
As a businesswoman, she has operated at Director-level for two of the fastest growing companies in the UK. She has been instrumental in raising both the public profile and international reach of these BAME-led companies.

After a number of years’ experience working in the charity sector at senior management level, Emma joined The Spitalfields Practice as Practice Manager in January 2011. As well as managing the general running of the Practice, in partnership with the GP Partners, her role involves working closely with patients, the wider local community, CVS organisations and neighbouring GP surgeries. She has been a board member for EEHN since 2011. Outside of work Emma has a passion for art, music, literature, nature and Labradors.
Dr Stefan Strubind
Dr Strubind has been a GP for 15 years and has worked in Tower Hamlets for the past 12 years, he is a GP partner at the Blithehale Medical Centre and is the clinical lead for Sexual health and minor surgery. Dr Strubind has been on the EEHN board since 2012.
Dr Simon Brownleader
Dr Brownleader has been a practicing GP in Tower Hamlets for the past 7 years, he is a partner at the Blithehale Medical Centre and is the clinical lead for Mental health and Education/GP Training. He is a current board member for EEHN and was chairman from 2012 to 2014. Dr Brownleader is also the Network 2 representative for the GP Care Group.
