On Thursday 5th June 2014 local patients and Health Professional from Tower Hamlet practices marched through the borough to protest the loss of Minimum Practice Income Guarantee Funding to the surgeries. This funding is used to top up the practices core funding to match their basic income levels. The march started from St Katherine's Dock Practice at 2:30pm and ended at Kingsley Hal at Bow at 6pm.
Local public also joined the march along the way especially when passing surgeries under threat. Members of the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Unite Trade Union, Community leaders and campaigning group 'Keep Our NHS Public' were all present at the march. The chair of the BMA was also there. The public were asked to sign a petition at https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-inner-city-gp-surgeries
